No Measles Cases In Columbus and Central Ohio In 2015 Yet
According to the CDC website, the states that have measles cases in 2015 prior to February 6 are Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Washington, as well as Washington, DC. These cases are likely related to the California Disneyland outbreak thought to be due to a traveler who became infected overseas, but that initial case has not been identified. Parents choosing not to vaccinate their children for measles is blamed for the ability for measles to spread. While no cases of measles were reported in Ohio in 2015, an outbreak occurred in Ohio in 2014 in unvaccinated Amish communities.
