Listeria is Hard to Eradicate in the Central Ohio Area
On Friday June 12, 2015, we noticed that the local Jeni’s shop was closed again, and we checked Jeni’s website to see what was happening. According to a blog post dated June 12, 2015 by Jeni’s CEO John Lowe, Listeria has again been found in their production facility. Jenni’s has stopped making ice cream and closed the shops. They are investigating where and how Listeria may have re-entered the facility. After production resumed on May 13, every batch of ice cream has been tested, and Jeni’s has been holding each batch until they got back negative tests for any Listeria. Jeni’s website states, “So it is with complete confidence that we can say all of the ice cream that has been served in our shops since reopening on May 22 has been safe and is 100% Listeria-free. We are closing our scoop shops temporarily because we don’t have enough ice cream to keep them stocked. We hope to be back very soon.”
