Columbus Public Health Issues Statement Regarding Ebola

On June 26, 2015, Columbus Public Health has issued a message that the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) issued a message on June 17, 2015 that no longer recommends public health monitoring of travelers from Liberia. The World Health Organization (WHO) on May 9, 2015 declared the end of Ebola outbreak in Liberia because it has been 42 days since the last case in this country. Thus, the CDC is now recommending travelers from Liberia self-observe their health for fever and Ebola symptoms until 21 days after leaving Liberia. However, the transmission of Ebola is still widespread in Guinea and Sierra Leone, and travelers from these two countries will continue to be monitored by public health for 21 days after leaving from these two countries.
